What if.....

When I first moved to Colorado I left everything and everyone I had ever known, my whole life. This was my first move away from my hometown and it was a big move, I wasn't sure if I could handle it, but at the same time I was determined to handle it. It was one of the hardest times in my life that I have had so far, but it has been one of the most amazing at the same time. People back home, whome ever they may be, never thought I would make it out here. They figured I'd be back in 6 months to a year and now, it's almost two years later and I am still here and I love it. This is my home and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else, in fact, I don't know if I ever want to go back to Wisconsin.
That is what this blog is inquiring about. I know that I will go back, I mean after all my family is there and I still have some close friends that live there; but I believe that I could be happy never going back. I look at those who I have lost touch with, those I have tried to stay in touch with, and it all comes back to me. I am always the one trying to stay in touch. With all the forms of communication these days and people still find a hard time to stay in touch. It is always the same story too: "I'm really busy" or "I never have time" but yet there is facebook that logs everytime you are online, so you know they have time to do something. The way I see it is that it is faster and easier to stay in touch with people through the internet. You leave a quick message or an email and in 5 minutes or less your done. As opposed to calling where you could be on the phone for more than an hour. How hard is the internet? That is the real question. People have time to check facebook, emails, and leave messages for others, but yet some people they can't find the time for.
I know it sounds like I may be a little irritated and I am. I would like for friends to just see how I am doing every now and then...just a hello on a facebook or text message, I know it doesn't take that long. People have time to go out and hang out, but maybe since your not there and not involved you don't matter. In the end the real questions is "What if I never came back to Wisconsin...would anyone notice or even care?" I sometimes think they wouldn't.

YES Man!!!

I figured if I am going to write about the worst movie I might as well write about a great movie also. Since I gave a movie a chance that my boyfriend wanted to see he let me choose a movie the following night. I wanted to see Marley and Me but someone told me about how the movie may end and it kind of ruined it for me, so I decided that we would watch YES Man! with Jim Carrey. I heard great reviews and watched a couple different sneak peeks of the movie and thought it looked really good, and it was great! It was funny, cute, romantic and had meaning also. I thought it was great. If you tend to let your mind wander and think about a lot of different things in life, this movie can get a person thinking. Could you imagine what your life would be like if you said yes to everything that ever presented itself to you? Where would it lead you? I know I could never do something like that, but at the same time it would be interesting to see how life would be saying yes to the things you thought you would never do. In the movie Jim Carrey has a bungee jumping scene, and he actually did that scene, no stunt double. He said that it was because of the reasoning behind the movie, why not?! I think that is great. The movie didn't inspire this decision but someday I want to sky dive and I know that many people could never see me or themselves doing it, but just imagine the experience!!! What is life without a little risk?! Anyway, I would recommend this movie to anyone, it is a great date movie too because it satisfies both the female and male needs of a movie. I hope that if you read this you get a chance to see it, because it really is a great movie and it makes you think a little, it could lead to some great discussions afterwards.

Worst movie of the year.....

So the night of Christmas my boyfriend, his brother and friends all decided that they wanted to go watch the movie; "The Spirit," and I decided to tag along, after reading the description, I thought to myself "how bad could it really be....." Little did I know! I knew it was based off of a comic book, but it was also directed (I believe) by the same person who directed the movies "300" and "SinCity" which I heard great reviews about, so I thought I would give it a shot. Only 20 minutes into the movie and I wanted to wanted to walk out. It had some great people in the movie like Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Mendes but oh my gosh!!! the worst movie. It had some of the cheesiest lines and dorkiest scenes I have ever seen in my life!!!! I couldn't believe I even tried to give the movie a chance!!! All I can say is spare yourself, you do not want to see this movie, the previews may look good but trust me you will lose an hour and 45min of your life that you will NEVER get back. If you really want to see it, wait till the movie comes out so you don't waste as much money and where you can at least turn it off and WALK AWAY!!! My boyfriend and I would have left if we hadn't grabbed a ride with other people. It may be one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

INFJ

I am in a counseling program and over the weekend I had my last meeting of appraisal and assessment class. This class discussed the different types of psychological assessments that can be administered. One of the assessments was the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. This assessment is a fast, easy to score, assessment that can be used to help place people in the proper work settings among other reasons. However, it is also just a fun assessment to take to find out what 'type' you are. It has four different scales of scoring. The areas are as listed below:
Extraversion-Introversion
Sensing-Intuition
Thinking-Feeling
Judging-Perceiving
Based off of your answers on a 93 questions assessment you discover what your 4 letters are. The 93 questions pertain to a variety of things that would best fit you, you are given 2 options for each questions and you choose what best fits you and then follow the carbon copy worksheet and discover what letters are the highest and then you have your type.
My type, based off the answers were INFJ (Introvert, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging).
Introversion: People who prefer introversion tend to focus on the inner world of ideas and impressions
Intuition: People who prefer intuition tend to focus on the future, with a view toward patterns and possibilities
Feeling: People who prefer feeling tend to base their decisions primarily on values and on subjective evaluation of person-centered concerns.
Judging: People who prefer judging tend to like a planned and organized approach to life and prefer to have things settled.
There was also a class presentation that went along with this assessment and for each possibility there is a corresponding name such as: architect, champion, etc. Mine was counselor...how fitting :) Anyway. My introversion and judgement scale were the highest where my intuitive and feeling did have a higher score then it's counterpart it wasn't as big as the other two scales. However, I was not surprised. My final definition of who I am based on my type is as follows:
Seek meaning and connection in ideas, relationships, and material possessions. Want to understand what motivates people and are insightful about others. Conscientious and committed to their firm values. Develop a clear vision about how best to serve the common good. Organized and decisive in implementing their vision.
I believe that for me, the definition completely fits me. Everything above fits me to a T and anyone who works with me will know that I prefer things to be organized and if you have class with me you know I like things with structure. Which is also what the Judging score stands for. They like things planned, organized, structured, etc.
Anyway, I was really excited about this assessment and so glad I was able to participate in taking it. I don't know why but it does make me feel a little better about myself and gives me a little insight somehow into many different things in my life. If you ever have the opportunity to take this assessment I recommend it...I will forever be proud to say that I am an INFJ!!!

Snow

Okay so I hail from Wisconsin and you would think that I would love snow and all the snow activities, however, for years past I have always found myself hating anything to do with snow or the activities that happen during the winter season. For almost the past 2 years I have now been living in Colorado where there is a whole new perspective of snow and the whole winter season. Don't get me wrong, watching snow falling is a beautiful sight-especially at night. However, having to drive in it is a whole other story.
This week we received a couple of inches of snow and I realized the next day that my attitude towards snow has completely changed, and everything about it has to do with being in Colorado (in my mind). It snowed and was cold for one day, the next morning was hell trying to drive to work. It took me a little over 45 minutes to get to work when it normally takes 20, mainly because I don't think plow trucks exist here in Denver. But that whole day the sun was out melting the snow on the streets and it was beautiful outside, and then today the sun and temperature was wonderful for winter. It was about 50 degrees during the day and the morning was even a little warmer than usual. And then to look at the beautiful snow capped mountains really makes you love the snow and how beautiful it can look.
The scenery here is beautiful and the fact that snow only stays around for a day or two is wonderful. I have never experienced a snow fall here is where the next day is still cold. It always warms up and the sun shines. I love it. In Wisconsin the same snow that falls in November is there in March and you don't see the sun for about 5 months. But here in Colorado it is always beautiful and the mountains help make up for that. So that is just one small piece on winter and snow, who knows there may be more to come.....

Thanksgiving!!

So this Thanksgiving I spent time with my boyfriend's family, on his mom's side. I absolutely loved it! It was so great to just sit around with a family and not hear arguing or people snapping at eachother. It was just really great to look around and see people smiling, laughing, drinking and just having fun. We played games and ate and drank wine and just enjoyed ourselves. I can only hope that someday I can be considered as part of this family. To some people this may sound wierd but when you are used to dreading holiday dinners and gatherings, you find times like this to just be amazing and comforting. Not that I don't love my family, but occasionally there are days that it is hard to be around them. Sorry to admit it but it is true.
At this Thanksgiving my boyfriends family played their Wii as well as the game Cranium. Our team was definately at the losing end of that game. Our piece hardly moved the whole time, but we still had a blast with it. There was even an incident where in trying to "name the person" in a charade part of the game people were doing examples of the missionary position in order to get them to guess "a missionary." I don't know if I have ever had as much fun at a holiday family gathering as I have had with this family.
So that was my Thanksgiving experience and I hope that everyone else had an amazing Thanksgiving as well!
Happy Holidays!!!
